The use of evolutionary ecology and zooarchaeology to understand temporal changes in social behavior, especially in regards to costly signaling and its effect on sharing, sexual division of labor, and social complexity; resource intensification and management; archaeological applications to biogeography and conservation biology; landscape archaeology; California, Great Basin, and Pacific Northwest regions.
