Expertise

Dr. Aaminah Norris is a Professor in the Teaching Credentials department of the College of Education at Sacramento State. She is also the Founder and CEO of Unhidden Voices, a Black woman-owned educational consultancy based in San Francisco. Dr. Norris's research focuses on addressing inequities in access for girls and women in STEM, particularly for those who identify as Black and Latina. She explores the impact of teacher professional development in culturally responsive curricula on engagement and motivation. She also examines gender and racial identity processes within educational contexts and on social media. By centering the historical and contemporary Black women educators, Dr. Norris aims to disrupt their invisibility in the field of education. She has trained thousands of educators and developed curricula for over 10,000 K-12 schools, colleges, and universities across 20 countries, including the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, Qatar, and Taiwan.
