Expertise

My main research focus is on the area of water resources engineering. I believe sustainable management of water resources necessitates an integrated strategy that requires the combined effort of multiple disciplines and takes into consideration the needs of the end-users. Such a strategy requires knowledge of physical processes, the combination of modeling, field and laboratory investigations, and their integration with newly available technology. My research team combines field, experimental and modeling approaches to study groundwater systems and their interconnection with surface water, with interest in both water management and water quality. Areas of interest include storm-induced aquifer salinization, climate change impacts on groundwater resources, managed aquifer recharge (MAR) and transport of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the subsurface, among others.
