Expertise

Professor Yipaer Aierken is a scholar with an interdisciplinary focus on both art history and religious studies. She employs methods from art history, religious studies and ethnography in her study of polyethnic artists and scholar-officials of the Yuan and Qing dynasties, including those of Uyghur, Tibetan, Manchu and Mongol origins. She teaches Asian art courses, including Art of Asia, Art of China, Art of Japan, Art of Korea, and Art of India and Southeast Asia. Before joining California State University, Sacramento, she taught at the University of California, Davis, and Arizona State University.
