Mark V. Siegler (Ph.D., UC Davis) is a Professor of Economics at California State University, Sacramento. He has also taught at Williams College, Bates College, Harvard University, UC Berkeley, and UC Davis. His research explores U.S. and comparative macroeconomic history and a wide range of other topics, from the pay of international basketball players in the NBA to the use of statistical significance in economics. His work has appeared in several economics journals, including the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, Journal of Economic History, Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of Macroeconomics, Journal of Economic Methodology, Journal of Economics and Business, and Applied Economics. He is also the author of An Economic History of the United States: Connecting the Present with the Past (2e, Bloomsbury, 2025).
