How can libraries play a role in Research Information Management initiatives?
Summary:
Late last year, OCLC Research published a comprehensive report that seeks to examine the state of Research Information Management (RIM) practices at US teaching and research institutions*.
With a growing adoption of RIM by US research universities, academic libraries face an opportunity to leverage their expertise and extend their involvement in institutional research excellence initiatives.
This session aims to build on top of the findings of the OCLC report to identify the path for libraries to take a prominent role in RIM initiatives, working closely with institutional research stakeholders.
Two library leaders and two domain experts will join to present the case for increasing library’s influence and the challenges this transition entails.
Topics will include:
- Leading RIM initiatives: Necessary expertise within libraries
- Partnering for success: Developing relationships across university units
- Practicing RIM: Real-world examples and ideas for greater impact
