Abstract
Students in Introduction to Asian American Studies collaborate to produce short magazines or "Zines" related to the Asian American community. Each zine includes a history section; a community collage and reflection; an interview with a member of the Asian American community; a section on current events related to Asian Americans; and original student art.
"This zine was inspired by the course "Introduction to Asian American Studies" at Sacramento State University taught by Dr. Gow. Living through the Covid-19 pandemic gave each of the authors their own insight into how Asian Americans were treated during this time and the significance it had on their lives. Because of this, we were able to connect each of our first hand accounts during the pandemic to the course material and develop our zine. With more research, we feel like we accurately captivated this impact in our zine. We also hope to have highlighted local Asian American businesses and organizations who endured the pandemic and highlight the services they offer." - from Introduction.
