Abstract
In 2021, grant funding was provided by the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation to digitize over 200 artifacts from the Southeast Asia Community Resource Center collection, including dolls, textiles and clothing, paintings and artwork, musical instruments, baskets, and more. This collection was originally created by the Southeast Asian Community Resource Center (SEACRC), which was developed by the Refugee Educators Network, Inc. (REN), to support refugees from various Southeast Asian countries as they left behind their cultures and lifestyles to begin their new lives in California. This article discusses the significance of the collection, provides historical information on the many communities that were forced to leave their home countries, and highlights the University Library's approach to describing the collection in ways that would be meaningful to the people and cultures the collection represents.
