Abstract
Instructed a total of 143 undergraduates to make guesses on a modified humphreys' board in 2 experiments. Transfer to a predictable schedule of light on (+) and light off (-) trials followed either regular or irregular training schedules. In exp. I, groups given a continuous +, a single alternation (sa), or an irregular schedule were transferred to extinction (all - trials). In exp. Ii, groups given either an sa or an irregular schedule were transferred to the repeated pattern - -+. Results indicate that solution of the transfer task was facilitated by previous experience with regular training schedules and retarded by experience with irregular training schedules. (190 ref.)
