Abstract
As I was led into an administrative office within the College of Education, I felt confident and prepared. For the next half hour, I anticipated having a substantive conversation about my academic preparation, expertise, and experiential background in relation to the position for which I had applied. When the formal introductions were concluded, I sat down and began to think about what the first question might be. The administrator gazed at me from across the desk and asked, "Now, what did you say your name was?"
