Abstract
Yamauchi et al describe the development, goals, and activities of six scholar collectives that are working toward social justice in education. Their groups are united by goals of equity in education; however, their origins and specific actions vary according to the collective's focus and context. All of the groups' members have ties to higher education. Three collectives are location based, in Chicago, California, and Hawai'i. The fourth group is made up of deans of colleges and schools of education nationwide. The last two collectives were organized by the scholarship of their members in arts education and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
