Abstract
The state parks are in rhe enviable position of having the well-organized and highly motivated aiisf as an ally, and the organization has ambitious plans for the site, including creating a visitor center in the former powerhouse building, a conference center and exhibition space in the former hospital building, and reconstructing the pier. Because the Angel Island Immigration Station is a member of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience, those responsible for the station have committed themselves to ambitious educational programming to remember "past struggles for justice" and their contemporary legacies.
