Abstract
Problem Significance Opioid use disorder is evident in Mendocino County, and the current interventions do not target upstream preventative strategies.
Analysis and Objectives Early prescription refills can be a sign of opioid use disorder and result from low belief risk of addiction, fear of not managing pain, ease of obtaining refills, and social isolation from lack of transportation. The objectives for this program aim to reduce opioid use disorder, reduce early refills, increase belief in addiction risk perception, increase self-efficacy in pain management, increase support for policy change, and decrease social isolation.
Intervention (Solution) Proposal The proposed intervention can meet the program objectives with an educational workshop, healthcare professional seminar, mobile yoga program, and traveling community board game nights.
Recommendations and Conclusions Focusing on risk perception and opioid addiction, self-efficacy in pain management, prescriber beliefs, and social opportunities can reduce opioid use disorder in Mendocino County.
