Abstract
Master’s students will go on to apply the knowledge gained from their graduate education to their professional lives; however, there are limited resources and programs that help master’s students to do so. by application of Giddens' (1979) structuration theory and qualitative research methods, this project describes disciplinary norms, roles and traditions; advocates for the relevance of the discipline and its agents (students and professionals); and recommends strategies for fostering critical dialogues that empower graduate students to preserve and advance the discipline's legacy in their professional life.
