Abstract
This study examines the influence of neoliberalism on current US education practices and policies with specific focus on the education of English Language Learners. In addition, this study focuses on how educators understand their roles as supporting or opposing current practices within education. Along with extensive research, the primary source of data stems from interviews with six bilingual educators from an elementary school where fieldwork was conducted. Analysis demonstrates how neoliberalism has contributed to increasing trends of racism within education through policies and practices that overwhelmingly exclude diverse populations from dominant society and promote the continuance of a lowered socio-economic status for subordinate peoples.
