Abstract
Historically, Western and Islamic aesthetics alike derived from a desire to depict a beauty, which was absolute rather than relative. Each, however, have developed uniquely different approaches to that end. Currently, these approaches seem to be locked in a conflict of incompatibility. My work encourages a visual dialog between the two contrasting perspectives. The following could be considered a guide for understanding my motivation in creating a series of paintings titled Veiled Symmetry.
