Abstract
The majority of mobile applications which offer turn by turn navigation services provide minimal instruction assistance features to its user’s. There is a real need of providing extra assistance while using turn by turn navigation services for people who are facing challenges like memory loss problems, mainly people having Alzheimer’s. People having Alzheimer’s show symptoms like confusion and memory loss. Present applications which provide turn by turn navigation service have few problems like manual searching and selection of home location every time whenever people are in need of navigation assistance, going through a sequence of buttons in order to access the navigation service and having limited voice instruction assistance. These problems create confusion and are tedious tasks for people who have Alzheimer’s. The main purpose of this mobile application “VOICEN” is to overcome the user’s problems facing Alzheimer in using turn by turn navigation services to their home location without getting lost on their walks. Challenges faced by Alzheimer user’s can be overcome by providing improved voice instruction assistance and hassle free access to the application services. All the pre configurations like registering the user or selecting the home location of the user can be configured by any one among the user’s family members. This mobile application supports tracking the user location by user’s family members. To provide a user interface on their mobile handsets for the family members to able to track a user in real time an independent application “MENTOR” is developed. Both the applications are provided with Google maps for routes, directions and to show location of the user.
