Abstract
Currently, authentication systems are the most researched domain. This application is an effort to develop an authentication application to identify the authorized user of the mobile device. Currently, authentication applications are based on tokens and passwords. However, these tokens and passwords are prone to leakage. Biometrics-based user authentication applications (such as fingerprints, faces, voices) identify the user based on “who you are”, which provides a convenient and secure way to authenticate the users. However, most biometric features are vulnerable to spoofing and replaying attacks. So, this application uses the vibration of the chest in response to the heartbeat (another name, SCG) and pulse at your fingertip as the reliable biometric feature for user authentication. The heartbeat pattern depends on the biological features and geometric structure of the heart, which is unique for each person. SCG and pulse at your fingertip provide strong protection against spoofing attacks. The heartbeat pattern is closely linked to the “liveness”. Therefore, these biometric features are more reliable compared to other mentioned features. To capture the biometric features application uses a smartphone’s accelerometer to measure the chest vibrations in response to the heartbeat and the smartphone’s camera to measure the pulse at the fingertip.
