Abstract
My work explores the relationship between objects and their associated negative space, as well as how the connection between these spaces influences the perception of the work. I use geometric forms, color fields, and the materiality of plywood to explore viewer engagement and the manner in which the negative space of an object can often be more important than the positive in understanding the thing itself. I am curious about the shift that occurs when making or viewing an object and how that shift, either acute or obtuse, influences one's perception of the world.
