Abstract
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is found across all racial, ethnic, and social groups. There is an abundance of information and public resources available for English speaking families; however, ASD is not limited solely to those who speak English. Unfortunately, the development and distribution of culturally appropriate educational materials to Spanish-speaking families with children with ASD is limited. This lack of access to resources, including empirically- based research, can be detrimental for the well-being and social outcomes of children with ASD. Therefore, the purpose of this project was to address this language barrier by providing empirical research on autism to the Spanish-speaking community. In doing so, the researcher created a Spanish language web page that provided empirical research related to the social relationships of children with ASD. Three child relationships were discussed including, parent- child, sibling relationships, and peer friendships. Additionally, the web page was equipped with links to additional resources and organizations designed to facilitate the social relationships of children with ASD. Web page evaluations revealed that the project was informative and easy to access, and contributed to the limited number of empirically based Spanish resources available to the ASD community.
