Abstract
Although research on the impacts of the Model Minority Myth is steadily increasing, most of the research does not include mental health; furthermore, most studies primarily focus on Asian American college students or adults. Studies have shown that at least 25% of all Asian Americans face some variation of mental distress (Kim & Lee, 2014). The development of mental health distress does not occur spontaneously. More preventative measures can be implemented to address the issues by building earlier awareness. The lack of research and resources for adolescents regarding the Model Minority Myth and mental health is a dilemma this project aims to address. The project is a series of four workshops designed for high school adolescents to explore Model Minority Myth's fundamental principles, historical origins, impacts on Asian Americans and other ethnicities, mental health impacts, and contributions to generational trauma.
