Abstract
The role that exposure to different degrees of pornography impact women’s body dissatisfaction, self-objectification, social comparison and sexual satisfaction with their partners was investigated. Two hundred undergraduate women participants were examined. Exposure to different types of pornography did not influence participants’ level of social comparison, body dissatisfaction, sexual satisfaction rewards, sexual satisfaction costs and overall sexual satisfaction. Exposure to different types of arguments concerning pornography did not influence participants’ level of sexual satisfaction rewards, sexual satisfaction costs and overall sexual satisfaction. Participants who were exposed to the Degrades Women Argument had lower social comparison and body dissatisfaction than participants exposed to the Harm to Others Argument, p = .05. In addition, participants who were exposed to the Degrades Women Argument had lower body dissatisfaction than participants exposed to No Argument, p = .02.
