Abstract
It was the purpose of this study (1) to review the geography of Greenland and Iceland with particular consideration of their geographic position in relation to other land masses of the northern hemisphere; (2) to investigate the efforts of the United States to obtain strategic concessions on these islands and the reaction of the Soviet Union to such activities; and (3) to analyze and evaluate the importance of Greenland and Iceland in the strategic planning of the United States of America.
