Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the use of political campaign lawn signs as an information channel in the nonpartisan Supervisorial election in the Fourth District of San Joaquin County in which Lodi is the largest urban area. The study was confined to the city limits of Lodi as shown on the City of Lodi Zoning Map of May, 1974, and consisting of an area of 7.65 square miles with an estimated population of 31,350 residences.* The study investigates the characteristics of political campaign lawn sign displayers; their role in personal influence, the reason for displaying lawn signs, and lawn signs as a channel of political campaign information.
