Abstract
The main idea of a home visit is to build a bridge between the parent and teacher in order to work together to help the child become successful in school. Researcher Delisio (2006) found that showing up at students' doors-establishing a positive relationship with students' families-is one of the most important tools in school reform, particularly in low-income, urban districts. Mapp's (2003) research has proven that home visits increase grades and test scores, better school attendance, increase graduation rates, and more produce positive attitudes.
