Abstract
This study examines art therapy effectiveness in achieving positive outcomes for mental health clients. Latent and manifest qualitative content analysis was used to analyze and interpret interview responses from 10 participants. The participants were all certified art therapists selected through snowball sampling. The three main themes emerged: art therapy and its impact on the body; art therapy and its use of externalization via narrative therapy; and art therapy and its effect on personal growth. Direct practice and policy implications for social work and research recommendations are discussed.
