Abstract
This project is an alternative culminating experience for a Masters of Arts in Education Curriculum and Instruction with an Elective Emphasis on Arts in Education. It follows Pathway III: developing a curriculum project related to arts in education. The project reviewed relevant research which confirms the positive impact the arts have on academic progress and cognitive development of children. To capitalize on these benefits, this project contains 60 lessons which use the pedagogy of arts instruction in teaching third grade language arts standards. These lessons incorporate theatre, dance and movement, music, visual art, and play.
