Abstract
One of the leading concerns in education is the lack of parent involvement in schools. In response to this concern, many programs are being developed to encourage schools to partner with families to increase parent involvement. One such program is the WATCH
D.O.G.S. progran1, which stands for Dads of Great Students. The primary goal of the program is to promote positive fathering through the forum of schools across America. The purpose of the research is to conduct an exploration of the influences of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program as a form of parent involvement in a public elementary school site in a large suburban school district in the Sacramento area. Data collection includes a purposeful sample of participants that were chosen to reveal themes and to generate a hypothesis grounded in the data regarding the perceptions and experiences of parents, students and teachers who participated in the WATCH D.O.G.S. program.
