Abstract
Gender disparities persist within K-12 classrooms, often perpetuated by educators unaware of their own biases. Despite progress, teacher education inadequately addresses gender equity, leaving substitute teachers particularly ill-prepared. This project addresses the critical need for substitute teacher training in gender equity, particularly in light of increased demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing on literature highlighting the absence of gender equity training in teacher education and substitute teacher requirements, this project aims to fill the gap by creating a user-friendly website. The website offers resources and guidance on implementing gender-equitable teaching practices, informed by qualitative analysis of available trainings and instructional design principles. Theoretical frameworks of feminist theory and adult learning theory inform the project, ensuring a focus on equitable pedagogy and tailored learning for adult educators. Limitations include potential researcher bias and gaps in substitute teacher education outside California. Nevertheless, this project contributes to the broader goal of fostering gender equity in education by empowering substitute teachers to create inclusive learning environments.
