Abstract
This project featured a mixed method exploratory design that focused on therapists' perceptions of non-offending mothers involved in father-daughter incest. Interviews were conducted with six therapists that navigated their clients' lived experiences when their daughters were sexually abused by a trusted father-figure in their lives which included step-fathers, mothers' boyfriends, and fiancées. Key informant therapists were asked questions regarding mothers' feelings and emotions prior to and post disclosure of the incestuous event, the affect on the shared relationship with their daughters and types
of therapeutic interventions utilized. The purpose of the research project was to consider the emotional support requirements of mothers and treatment plans that would address these needs and empower mothers so they could help their daughters through recovery.
