Abstract
There is a lack of knowledge surrounding the services and resources for teen birth parents amongst service providers and helping agencies. Because of this discrepancy, social workers have difficulty in dialoguing with pregnant adolescents about adoption. The small populations of teens who relinquish or consider relinquishment are not aware of the option to relinquish nor of the services that may be available to them to be successful in life. The information gathered using the online service of SurveyMonkey.com administered to service providers at various agencies in Sacramento County supports this position. The lack of resources together with the lack of knowledge about adoption amongst helping professionals make it difficult for this small population of relinquishing teens to be able to make an informed decision of whether to abort, keep the child or to consider adoption as a vital option.
