Abstract
The home and school settings exert a significant influence on student well-being and longitudinal success. A breakdown in communication between these settings can contribute to academic and behavioral concerns. Creating and fostering positive school-home partnerships exerts a significant positive influence on student academic and behavioral outcomes. However, many significant barriers to partnership exist, including a lack of accessible training material designed to foster partnerships. The purpose of this project is to provide educators with current research and resources for building successful school-home partnerships. This project provides information about the importance of parental involvement, the influence of parent-teacher relationships, and techniques that can be utilized to foster strong school-home partnerships. This project includes a focus on special populations, including culturally and linguistically diverse families, immigrant families, families with a low socioeconomic status, and families of a student enrolled in special education. The Stronger Together training is designed to be delivered to teachers and administrators during a professional development day. This project includes a literature review focused on research illustrating the importance of parental involvement and positive school-home partnerships. The literature reviewed was used to develop the Stronger Together training, a research-informed training designed to foster engagement practices for teachers and administrators. This training serves as an accessible resource for teachers and administrators who aim to build strong partnerships with parents and families.
