Abstract
Stickup Kid is the story of Bear Lopez, a suburban teenager born without a tribe, who wanders from his Jewish neighborhood on the outskirts of Boston into the depths of the city, where he meets Stoop, a burned out petty thief. Their chance meeting blossoms into a shaky relationship that relies on neediness and a desperate sense of belonging. Stickup Kid is about family, choices, belonging, cultural identity and, of course, the fine art of robbery.
