Abstract
This report will investigate a simplified rendition of market bid determination against a network topology. This project uses a variation of linear programming to minimize the cost functions associated with five generators to produce the economic dispatches. The results are then transferred to the IEEE 14-Bus system and DC power flow is performed. Shift factors will assist in correcting any initial power generated values to relieve congestion on transmission lines. The report will analyze four different cases with shift factors on this economic dispatch to DC power flow problem: an ideal case where the economic dispatch produces values that do not create any reliability concerns on the network’s topology, an uneconomical solution produced by the economic dispatch causing congestion in the transmission lines, an outage on one of the generators which will yield a disturbance in the network, and lastly uneconomical bids in junction with an outage to create more congested lines.
