Abstract
The Denise Ducheny Papers are held by the California State Archives, which is responsible for the management of state government material that possesses potential historical value. The Denise Ducheny papers consist primarily of legislative bill files, and other ephemera related to her political interests. The Denise Ducheny Papers arrived at the archive via multiple accessions and had not been processed by archival staff. The collection needed an arrangement and a finding aid that could be placed on the Online Archives of California. To understand the collection, the student utilized a range of historical books, government documents relating to California’s demographics, journals, and websites. Additionally, the California State Archive’s Oral History interview of Denise Ducheny was influential in deciding which parts to emphasize.
The student created an arrangement for the collection based off the standards provided by the California State Archive, organizing the collection into record series and sub series according to the needs of the material. Digital material was removed and allocated to the proper environment for long term storage. Finally, the student produced a finding aid and an EAD copy of the finding aid to be placed on the Online Archives of California (OAC).
