Abstract
This research study explored current and former public high school employees’ perspectives regarding multicultural education in public high schools in Sacramento, CA. A total of 64 participants were surveyed regarding their observations and perspectives regarding culture, the acceptance of culture in public high schools and the implementation of multicultural education in public high school curriculum. The design of this study was a quantitative cross-sectional survey research design utilizing convenience sampling and snowball sampling methods. Significant findings of the study using chi-square tests showed that the majority of participants agreed that multicultural education programs should be implemented in the public high school sector and that they would have positive effects on students, staff and campus climate. Implications for social work practice and policy, education and additional research were discussed.
