Abstract
There is a lack of information about the perceptions of domestic violence in the Russian community. This lack of information affects social workers' awareness and understanding of why victims from this community tend not to report or seek out help for domestic violence and how to properly help those victims that do come forth and ask for help. In response to there being a lack of information about the Russian community and domestic violence the researcher has developed a questionnaire that asks general questions about the personal views and perceptions, in regards to domestic violence, reporting, and seeking help. The questionnaire also inquires about the affects that factors such as family, culture, and religion have on their personal views and perceptions about various issues concerning domestic violence. The researcher passed the questionnaire out to members among the Russian community, analyzed the responses, and provided them in this project. The Russian community lacks in knowledge about domestic violence and the different types of violence that exist. From the data collected and presented in this project it is very clear that family, religion, culture, and home life has a significant affect on various views and perceptions about domestic violence and how to deal with the various factors that come with it among the individuals from this community. The Russian community needs greater education and awareness on the different types of services, where they can seek out help, which are available to victims of domestic violence.
