Abstract
For the recent technology computers the hot plug features implementation for any device is very important. This project is based on the design of the Off Chip Hot plug Controller for PCI Express cards on the validation board. The design is made for validation purpose. For any of the new feature implementation the validation of that feature is necessary. This design emulates the actual Hot Plug Controller. This works as interface between Chipset or root switch and PCIE slots. This also has I2C bus for communication and IO Expander as a part of the design to achieve pin count reduction in connection ports. This design is used to validate the Hot Plug Feature of the System. To achieve most flexibility requirement, the design is implemented in FPGA. This successful design can achieve read write to the I2C slave, IO Expander ports, command translation and command generation for slot power controllers and slot clock buffers.
