Abstract
The purpose of this needs assessment is to examine collaboration rates between school staff and mental health providers and school administration and school staff perceptions of school based mental health intervention effectiveness. The study included 39 school staff members within the Placerville Union School District. Results indicated a negative correlation between collaboration with school and district administration, and school based mental intervention effectiveness at helping students’ behavior in the classroom. With a negative correlation of -.383, as school staff tended to report diminished perceptions of school based mental health intervention effectiveness at improving of students’ behavior in the classroom, school staff tended to not report collaboration with school and district administration about the mental health intervention offered. Results from this study indicate the importance of continued research into the growing issue of school based mental health intervention effectiveness and the school staff who are working directly with students involved in intervention.
