Abstract
This project nominates the Fallon-Kimberlin and Barr-Wixson residences in Sacramento, California to the National Register of Historic Places. By establishing the historic context and determining the significance and integrity of the properties, the Fallon-Kimberlin and Barr-Wixson residences are eligible under Criterion A for their association with an event which has made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of United States History. Also, the Fallon-Kimberlin and Barr-Wixson residences are eligible under Criterion C because they embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction. The style, size, grandeur, and location of the Fallon-Kimberlin and Barr-Wixson residences have become visible representations of the Better Homes in America national movement that began during the 1920s. The Fallon-Kimberlin and Barr-Wixson residences are also significant in their contribution and association to neighborhood development of Sacramento through South Curtis Oaks and Curtis Park.Sources used for this project include city and state histories, newspaper articles, historic photographs, and works on architectural history.
