Abstract
This project aims to nominate the former Sierra School and current Sierra 2 Center for the Arts and Community at 2791 24th Street in Sacramento to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The property is locally significant under Criterion C of the National Register for representing the work of notable local architects in the 1920s and the distinctive characteristics of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. This project establishes the historic context of the Curtis Park neighborhood and contributes to the history of education and community centers during the twentieth century in Sacramento. The sources used in this project include historic maps, historic photographs, National Register Bulletins, architectural reference books, newspaper articles, academic journal articles, city government documents, and ephemera.
