Abstract
This project aims to nominate the Guild Theatre at 2828 35th Avenue in Sacramento to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The Guild Theater is eligible under Criterion A of the NRHP at the local level of significance for its contributions to the history of cinema and entertainment in Sacramento between 1915 and 1969. The Guild Theatre maintains its integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association. This project establishes the historic context of the Oak Park neighborhood and contributes to the history of cinema and entertainment during the twentieth century in Sacramento. The sources used in this project include assessor maps, Sanborn maps, city directories, building permits, historic photos, county histories, newspaper articles, periodicals, personal correspondences, promotional materials, ephemera, administrative accounts, cultural resources reports, National Register Bulletins, and architectural reference books.
