Abstract
World has simply not changed after 9/11, it has become the most happening place. It has also become very difficult for an artist to stay indifferent in these troubled times. On one hand the artist can just not lock himself in his/her studio and paint, draw, or make art but on the other, there is always a danger that one can be consumed so much by this political and economic turmoil. The fear is that a creative thinking being can end up reducing oneself to just an activist. I believe in the Art that represent the whole being not just an aspect of an individual. In this paper, I will try to explain and explore some of the factors that establishes ones concerns. Concerns that form ones personality that reflects the age one lives in, not an echo of another time, as its beautifully stated by Malvina Hoffman "It must be the reflection of the artist who creates it and of the era he lives, not an echo or a memory of other days and other ways."' While writing my thesis along with describing the process and relevance of my art practice, I will also try to figure out the exact role of an artist and his/her art practice. Further, I will point out what are the danger zones for an artist to avoid.
