Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence of global social justice issues in the Master of Social Work program at Sacramento State University. An exploratory qualitative research design was utilized for this study. It examined the participants' understanding of global issues and how globalization and related issues were being taught. The research participants were eighteen second year students who have experienced the most of the program. This study suggests that a global perspective is imperative to an effective social work practice in today's world. The study shows that the students of social work understand that a global perspective is highly important for working both locally and internationally. However, the participants had a hard time discussing global social justice issues and the structures involved. This study also discovered that the social work program at Sacramento State University lacked in its integration of global social justice issues into the curriculum. Implications for social work practice and policy are discussed.
