Abstract
This project aims to address the lack of current, readily comprehensible, organized knowledge about the lu-Mien experience in America. The lack of accessible research available creates a barrier for lu-Mien Americans, youth educators, and social service providers to develop an understanding of this unique population. The project creates a children's book based on themes developed from a content analysis of secondary data sources on the Lu-Mien people and their experience. The secondary data consist of peer-reviewed articles, books, theses, and other publications available through the CSUS University Library. It is not possible to provide appropriate social services if we do not have an adequate understanding of the clients and their experience in America. The hope of this project is to create pride and understanding of self for lu-Mien American children and the non-Mien community members who work with these families.
