Abstract
This study was concerned with the integumental reflectance, absorbance and transmittance in the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum of live Sceloporus occidentalis occidentalis Baird and Girard. Hutchison andLarimer (1960) examined reflectance of excised skin portions in the range of 320 to 1100 mμ. Norris (1958) and Norris and Lowe (1964) studied background color matching in amphibians and reptiles in the spectral range of 400 to 700 mμ. Talbot and Livezey (1964) reported differences in integumental reflectance of live Sceloporus occidentalis oceidentalis from four habitats, in the visible wavelengths of 480, 550, 580 and 650 mμ. Tercafs (1963) measured the infrared transmittance of the shed exuvia of various reptiles.
