Abstract
The purpose of the project was to assess the level of awareness the Hmong community has about end of life services in attempt to understand the best approach to address the barriers of this topic. Despite the growth of the Hmong community over the years, cultural taboos still restrict members from openly discussing and learning about care services impacting families and loved ones. Participants in this study were Hmong American adults ranging in educational backgrounds and age groups from Sacramento, California. The findings of the research revealed the community’s lack of knowledge of the treatment terms and services pertaining to end of life care. The participants’ perception of learning and speaking about end of life services was evaluated in attempt to understand the factors hindering individuals from utilizing care services for themselves and their family members.
