Abstract
Statement of Problem: As the elusive architecture of reality reveals itself and then goes back into hiding, I am always reducing and expanding my understanding through the process of making form from thought to try to gain some understanding of reality. This pursuit is a philosophical seeking of knowledge to gain power over myself in this world, to find an inner light in the darkness of the subconsciousness, to then project into the world as a beacon. Sources of Data: In this work I look towards example and foundations of Buddhist thought, physics, mythology, and alchemy to understand that change is equivalent to death; material and phycological change is transformation, by which the thing no longer represents the thing it was before. Conclusions Reached: Everything exists as a paradox in this world, a duality, an ambiguous state. This is at first something that seems quite depressing; there are no real answers, everything is relative and subjective, when in fact it is a liberation. Through the manipulation of materials into new forms, the artist makes connections in reality. The pursuit of this, the seeking and examining of the mental and material world is the reward in and of itself.
