Abstract
Research has found that classroom lessons that promote active learning increase the quality and amount of student learning. Given the high demands on instructors, it is difficult to find time to create specific activities for each topic in the subjects they teach. Currently there are few resources for teaching an Introductory Sport Psychology class. The purpose of this project was to create a handbook containing specific instructions for engaging students in hands-on activities in an Introductory Sport Psychology class. Sixteen plans for activities in major topics covered in Sport Psychology classes were created. They were designed to engage students in active learning to increase the quality of their learning, the amount of information they retain, and interest in the class.
