Abstract
As any jurisdiction, the California criminal justice system must deal with prolific offenders. One tool law enforcement uses to combat prolific and other offenders is search warrants. The search warrant approval process is not uniform across all California counties, however. Law enforcement agencies are faced with confusion and unclear procedures when trying to get a search warrant as there are different processes in each county for requesting and obtaining approval for a warrant. This is not only difficult for law enforcement agencies, but especially for those agencies with jurisdiction in multiple, or all fifty-eight counties. To fill the need for law enforcement to understand the process in each county, a handbook that contains the search warrant approval process for each California county was created.
